The Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival is the largest ice-and-snow festival in the world — each winter, the northeastern Chinese city of Harbin builds an entire illuminated city of ice, with full-scale castles, towers, and slides carved from blocks cut from the frozen Songhua River and lit from within in brilliant color, plus enormous snow sculptures.
Set in one of the coldest major cities on earth, it's a surreal, glowing wonderland, wrapped in Harbin's unique Russian-influenced architecture and cuisine.
