Each January, Tampa throws one of the country's largest parades — the Gasparilla Pirate Festival, when a fully-rigged pirate ship "invades" the city and krewes in pirate garb parade down Bayshore Boulevard, tossing beads to hundreds of thousands of costumed spectators.
